How much does AC installation cost in Delhi?

The answer

Expect about ₹2,700 to fit a split AC. Each metre of copper pipe adds about ₹1,500. Prices include GST.¹

• The fitting is ₹1,500, plus a ₹800 pressure test, before GST. We do the test on every install.^1,2

Watch: how an AC installation bill adds up

1. First, the fitting. Both units go up and are joined. That is about ₹1,800.
2. Next, a nitrogen pressure test, and the pipes are flushed. About ₹900.
3. Then the copper pipe, metre by metre. Each metre adds about ₹1,500.
4. Add the drain pipe, the wiring and a stand. Here the total is about ₹9,400.

AC installation: do's and don'ts

Do

• Get each pipe run measured on site. Then you pay only for what is used.²
• Exchange your old AC. Removal is free, and you get up to ₹7,000 off.³
• Check if your AC has Daikin's piping kit. It has 3 metres of copper in the box.⁶
• Keep the outdoor unit where it is safe to service.⁵
• Pick the right size AC for your room first.

Don't

• Don't skip the pressure test. We do it on every install.²
• Don't use one length for all three runs. Copper, drain and wiring rarely match.²
• Don't forget the power point. Daikin's standard install leaves the wiring from the meter to you.⁵

What is included in AC installation?

• The indoor unit goes on the wall. The outdoor unit goes in a safe spot outside.⁵
• No space for an outdoor unit for every room? Read VRV or split AC.
• One hole is drilled in a brick wall for the pipes.⁵
• The units are joined, checked and shown to you working.⁵

Why is copper pipe charged by the metre?

• The copper pipe joins the indoor and outdoor units. Its length depends on your home.⁶
• We measure it on site. So you pay only for the pipe that is used.²
• An AC sold with Daikin's kit has 3 metres of copper in the box. You pay only for copper beyond that.⁶

What costs extra in AC installation?

• A stand for the outdoor unit: about ₹1,100.¹
• Chiseling the wall: about ₹200 a metre.¹
• Anti-corrosion treatment, for places prone to rust: about ₹3,000.^1,5
• Cutting through a thick concrete wall costs extra too, says Daikin.⁵

Is installation included when I buy an AC online?
